Brand new computer
Brand new computers are expensive. They loose value very fast. We advise people not to opt in for the latest models as their price will come down within 6 months. Unless you need the processing power to edit video or large photos a standard new computer will do all the job you are indented to do, such as MS Office, Internet browsing and editing image or music files.
I recommend buying a computer with ATOM processor as they are cheaper and contain enough power to process your day to day needs. Don’t cut down on memory! Try to have a minimum of 512 MB RAM. Recommend 1 GB RAM for Windows XP and 2 GB for Windows Vista. Linux will operate smooth with 512 MB RAM.

Ideal Configuration: You can buy a used Pentium III or IV computer with 512 MB RAM (important)
